Description

A beautifully restored traditional TOWNHOUSE in a quiet cobbled street in the fortified city of Cospicua, one of the most historical towns of Malta. Along with Birgu and Senglea, this area is often referred to as the 'Three Cities' and is within the magnificent Grand Harbour, the scene of the 'Great Siege' of 1565. This newly renovated house of character offers a warm blend of traditional features and modern functionality after a meticulous conversion to a fine standard by its present architect owner/s that has to be viewed to be fully appreciated.  This lovely residence has an abundance of charm, including original Maltese patterned floor tiles, wooden doors and apertures, a traditional iron staircase, and high ceilings. It also has 2 separate entrances onto the street, which can be useful for commercial purposes. The layout features a warm and welcoming sitting room with dining area, stylish kitchen and downstairs bathroom overlooking a small courtyard. Upstairs, one finds a large main bedroom with a balcony, plus a second bedroom and bathroom. The top floor features a charming roof terrace with seating, gazebo and BBQ area, which presents an ideal opportunity to enjoy outdoor living. A laundry room and storage facility are also present. Furthermore, an additional 2 floors can be constructed on the terrace, which will access beautiful views of the marina.    The fairly new designer furniture is optional. This property is just a short walk from the harbour front and all the historical landmarks and local amenities with excellent transport connections.  Parking is available. A rare find.

Local Information Cospicua (Bormla)

Cospicua is the largest of the Three Cities on Grand Harbour opposite Valletta. It is known to many by its earlier name, Bormla. The city was renamed by the Knights of St. John because of the brave ('conspicuous') role played by its people during the Great Siege of 1565. Most of Cospicua's shoreline is taken up by the older dockyard - an area now being restored and developed as a marina. The city suffered extensive damage during World War II and although rebuilt, it has fewer inhabitants than in the pre-war years. Modern Cospicua is an important market centre in the heart of the docklands. The main building of cultural interest is the Collegiate Church of the Immaculate Conception, which is rich in exquisite works of art. The Firenzuola Fortifications, built in 1638, and Margherita Lines, part of the inland defences the Three Cities, are major landmarks. The Margherita Lines are in fact the only part of old Cospicua which survived World War II.
